The Desktop

The Desktop

A simple starting point.

The Desktop
The main menus where you can view your applications, places, and system configuration.
The indicators. Apps let you know what’s going on and let you control things. For example, you can connect to a network, view your messages, or log out.
A big, open area for your running apps' windows.
The dock with the apps that have been pinned. Apps that are open show a little blue light under them. If you have an app open that’s not pinned to the dock, its icon will show up on the right. You can drag to rearrange things or drag an app off the dock to unpin it.

Ready, go.Ready, go.

When you turn on your computer, it loads fast and comes up with the desktop. It's a simple, soothing, clutter-free sight with an easy-to-use bottom dock and top panel.

Ready, go.
Rock your dock out.

The dock shows your favorite apps and what windows are open. You can move app icons around, drag them off to remove them, or pin your open application to keep its icon there. It's simple and easy on the eyes, just like the rest of elementary.
