Installing Java in elementaryOS

How would I go about installing Java with

• NO Internet connection
• "jre-7u4-linux-i586.tar.gz" located in my Downloads folder
• elementaryOS, Jupiter (0.2 I believe?)

I have followed the directions found here: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/linux_install.xml, but all they do is extract the contents of the tar.gz into a folder. No installation text is shown in my Terminal window, with the Yes/No option.
