Maybe it's not a good option to try right now elementary daily builds, could broke your files, or something else on your PC. A good option to try latest developments of elementary apps and ubuntu 11.10 is Glimpse build by Shnatsel's, currently it's not yet an elementary app, but it seems a good option to try dialy build apps without broke your system. You are currently trying a daily build, which will have a tendency to be broken as it is still in development.
In general, for daily build issues like this, you will need to ask in the Live Support section of this site (the IRC channel on freenode.net). There you will find developers and advanced users that can answer your questions about bleeding-edge development problems.
